Site Area Measurements
DCSF Building Bulletins 98 and 99 set out the recommended area for schools, both inside and outside the building. It is therefore essential for an authority to have accurate details of their school site areas
School site areas are broken down into a number of defined categories; team game playing field, habitat, etc., and the DCSF recommends a minimum size for each one.
In order to make a comparison with the recommendations an authority must have access to accurate measurements of existing areas.
When a development is considered on a school site it is essential to know the existing area, the area to be taken up by new building and the area remaining.
If an authority decided to sell off a piece of school land currently in educational use, this would only receive DCSF approval if the amount of land remaining met the minimum area recommendations.
We can accurately measure site areas and categorize them according to DCSF requirements and show these on a CAD drawing.
We have developed software to extract data from the drawing and display it as a spreadsheet showing a comparison with the minimum recommended area for a school of that size.
Our Service
- Undertake detailed, accurate site area measurements
- Produce a CAD drawing showing the areas
- Use our software to provide that area data in the form of a spreadsheet which compares actual areas with DCSF recommended areas
- Provide the CAD drawing in a colour coded format to give a clear visual representation of the site
- Supply our software as part of an overall project, allowing the authority to generate reports when required
