Pentagon Support Services Ltd

Services

Pentagon Support Services can offer all aspects of the asset management process as a complete service. We can also undertake any of the individual elements of the process as independent, stand-alone projects.

Computer Aided Design
A CAD drawing is the foundation on which all of the strands of Asset Management (AMP) are built. Accurate information on the number and sizes of spaces in a building also supports a range of other management processes.

Stock Condition Surveys
Planned maintenance or planning of future building projects must be informed by an accurate assessment of a building’s current condition. A Stock Condition Survey provides a baseline indication of the condition at the time of the survey, as well as costs for repair and maintenance.

DDA Surveys
The Disability Discrimination Act (DDA), means that service providers should make reasonable adjustments to their premises to allow equal access for both able bodied and disabled people. DDA Access audits are identified as the best tool for the planned improvement of services and premises.

Fire Risk Assessments
As many Local Authorities do not have the resources it is acceptable to appoint a third party to complete the Fire Risk Assessment on your behalf. Pentagon can ensure that you comply with the changed Fire Safety regulations.

Educational Consultancy
There are a number of areas where a local authority may require some assistance; either because there are specific skills which are not available in-house or because time constraints result in the need for extra resources. We can help Our Education Consultants each have over 35 years experience of the education sector either in school, including as Secondary Deputy Head, or at Principal Officer level in a local authority Education Department

Suitability Assessments
Suitability Assessments of schools are an integral part of the Asset Management Planning (AMP) process introduced by the DCSF and now embedded in local authority building related decision making. They form one of the bases of effective and efficient planning for the use of available funding.

School Net Capacity
Every school must have its capacity established and its Planned Admission Number set in accordance with the Net Capacity calculation method, using the spreadsheet issued by the DCSF. The starting point for the Net Capacity calculation should be a CAD drawing showing the accurate area of each space and correctly identifying the room usage.

Curriculum Analysis
The DCSF recommends that a Curriculum Analysis is carried out in a secondary school as part of a Suitability Assessment to determine the number of spaces which are required. It should also be an element of planning building projects.

Every Child Matters
In 2008 the Government will embark on a 15 year Capital investment programme to equip Primary Schools for the 21st Century. The aim is to refurbish or rebuild at least half of the country’s primary schools.

School Development Plans
The DCSF expects every school to prepare a master plan setting out it's development intentions. Effective planning requires detailed, accurate data on the condition and suitability of the current buildings.

Welsh School Capacity
Every authority in Wales has to set its September 2009 admission number using the new method of calculating capacity set out in Circular 09/06 “Measuring the Capacity of schools in Wales. We can help to make this process easier and more accurate.
